During its meeting in February 2024, SCGES constituted six Working Groups. It was decided unanimously that each SCGES partner would contribute actively through at least one person (representative, deputy representative or contributor) to at least one working group.

- Best practices Working Group: (Lead) Hemda Garelick (IUPAC), Virginie Serin (IFSM), Bernie Santarsiero (IUCr), Sylvia Knapp (IUIS), Rodrigo Martins (IUMRS), Byungha Shin (IUMRS), Mark Cesa (IUPAC), Renuka Badhe (SCAR), Simone Sambento (UIS). The SCGES Best Practices Working Group promotes among our partners and the greater scientific community a list of SCGES recommendations of Best Practices based on the conclusions of the Gender Gap in Science project and other sources. The promoted Best Practices will include not only the activities of the partners but various aspects of the scientific life in their disciplines. It analyzes the activities of the partners towards Gender Equality as reported in the Annual Reports.
- Interviews Working Group: (Lead) Marie-Francoise Roy (IMU), Mamta Pommier (IAU), Catherine Jami (IUHPST), Nicky Hayes (IUPsyS), Laura Bertha Reyes-Sánchez (IUSS), Heather O’Leary (WAU), in cooperation with Léa Nacache (ISC). The SCGES Interviews Working Group produces and publishes interviews of women scientists of various disciplines, geographic zones and career stages, in close collaboration with the Interational Science Council. The aim is to document from a qualitative point of view the obstacles to gender quality in science and the strategies developed to reach it.
- Webinar Working Group: (Lead) Carol Woodward (ICIAM), Yang Mooi Lim (IUBMB), Lola Pereira (IUGS), Rodrigo Martins (IUMRS), Rebecca Zitoun (SCOR), Heather O’Leary (WAU). The SCGES Webinar Working Group encourages partners to organize webinars, alone or in collaboration, and approves the program of the webinars. It also welcomes webinars proposed by SCGES officers. It collaborates in the design of the webinar formats and monitors their execution.
- International Science Council Liaison Working Group; (Lead) Catherine Jami (IUHPST), Chunlei Tang (ACM), Carol Woodward (ICIAM), Nathalie Lemarchand (IGU), Marie-Françoise Roy (IMU), Nathalie Fomproix (IUBS), Mark Cesa (IUPAC). The SCGES International Science Council Liaison Working Group monitors relations with ISC, ensuring that cooperation with it is continued consistently with SCGES’s missions, interests and current activity.
- Communication Working Group: (Lead) Marie-Françoise Roy (IMU), Carol Woodward (ICIAM), Ilona Concha Grabinger (IUBMB), Maria Cristina Nonato (IUCr). The SCGES Communication Working Group oversees the follow up and development of the SCGES website, ensures the visibility of SCGES on social media, and takes care of informing the SCGES members.
- Annual report Working Group; (Lead) Carol Woodward (ICIAM), Guiying Yan (ICIAM), Virginie Serin (IFSM), Marie-Françoise Roy (IMU), Catherine Jami (IUHPST), Ilona Concha Grabinger (IUBMB),, Gillian Butcher (IUPAP). The SCGES Annual Report Working Group designs the format of the partners reports, contacts the partners, collects their answers, analyzes the data received and writes a synthesis. It also designs and collects the reports of the working groups and writes a collective description of SCGES activity. It edits the SCGES Annual Report.
